According to game developer Naomi Alderman, the first great works of digital literature are already being written. She cites Portal, Kentucky Route Zero, Her Story, Gone Home, Passage, Journey, and Spider: The Secret of Bryce Manor as exemplary examples. You can read the full article here. She doesn't think much of the field that is known as electronic literature though, but, despite what she says, it actually has many interesting examples of literary experimentation.
